Experiences as A Supervisor on Psychotherapy

Abstract

|
The author had supervised individually 6 residents about psychotherapy from Jun. HE2 to July 1983 at National Medical Center and Seoul National Univ. Hosp.
Through the experiences some frequently discussed problems with supervisee and difficulties as a beginning superviser were issued.
A. Frequently discussed problems
1. Changing theme of interview by the therapist without considering influence to the patient
2. Too early interpretation
3. Descriptive attitude rather than dynamic approach to the interview materials
4. Cancel or deferment of the interview appointment by therapist
5. Unnecessary medical explanations
6. Patient´s misapprehension of therapist´s aim
7. Stinginess of support or excouragement on patient´s hard situations or trial to adapt 8. Sexual inclination to interpret
B. Difficulties as a supervisor
1. Identity as a beginning supervisor
2. Interpretation of dream materials
3. Problems around the supervisee self emotional status
